Southend has two main beaches, South Beach (sometimes referred to as the golden mile) and East beach.
The towns of Benfleet, Leigh-on-Sea, Westcliff and Thorpe Bay also have their own beach fronts and border onto the Thames Estuary.

The theme park in Southend is known as Adventure Island, which has some great rides for the younger members of the family, as well as the nearby sea life centre which is a lovely attraction. Some great pubs and restaurants are also located in and around the high street as well as along the seafront.
